Announcement from Dr Rory Egan

It is with mixed emotions that I announce that I am no longer able to work as a general practitioner. Due to a decline in my vision, medical specialists have advised that I am no longer able to continue practising medicine. Like you, this news came as a shock to me and I am deeply saddened to end my medical career in this way.

What This Means for My Patients

  • Our team will work diligently to ensure your ongoing care needs are addressed

  • We will help facilitate a smooth transition to another doctor within our practice or elsewhere, according to your preference

What This Means for Redland Bay Surgery

  • Redland Bay Surgery will continue operating with our team of general practitioners, nurses, and administrative staff

  • Due to capacity constraints and the nationwide challenge of recruiting GPs, we may experience some difficulties accommodating all patients immediately

  • The practice is actively attempting to recruit additional doctors to meet the needs of our patients

Next Steps

  • If you wish to continue at Redland Bay Surgery, our reception team will assist in scheduling appointments with our other doctors

  • Should you prefer to transfer your records to another practice, please complete a record transfer request form at the new practice, and we will promptly transfer your medical history to your new healthcare provider

  • Our administrative staff will be available to answer any questions and provide guidance during this transition

I want to express my heartfelt gratitude for your support and trust over the past 30 years. It has been my privilege and honour to provide healthcare to this wonderful community. The relationships I've built over this time have been one of the most rewarding aspects of my career.

While I cannot continue practising, please know that your health and wellbeing remain important to me, and I am confident in the care you will receive from my colleagues.

Sincerely,

Dr Rory Egan
